Reached Level 700 in Blox Fruits and wondering how to unlock the Second Sea?
You're actually very close. There's no long quest chain or special item you need to grind for. Once you hit Level 700, you need to get a key from the Military Detective, use it to reach the Ice Admiral in Frozen Village, defeat him, and then talk to the Experienced Captain in Middle Town.
Here's the complete route:
Level 700 → Prison → Military Detective → Frozen Village → Ice Admiral → Middle Town → Experienced Captain → Second Sea
Quick Second Sea Route
| What You Need | Details |
|---|---|
| Required Level | 700+ |
| Starting Point | Prison |
| First NPC | Military Detective |
| Boss | Ice Admiral |
| Key Item | Special Key |
| Final NPC | Experienced Captain |
| Destination | Second Sea |
You don't need to buy anything or complete a separate grinding requirement just to enter the Second Sea. The main thing is completing the Military Detective's progression after reaching Level 700.
Reach Level 700
First, make sure your character is Level 700 or higher.
This is the level gate for the Second Sea. If you're still below 700, the Military Detective won't start the required progression for you.
If you just reached 700, you can technically start the journey immediately. However, if you're trying to make leveling as efficient as possible, you may want to stay in First Sea a little longer. Some current leveling guides recommend continuing to around Level 775–800 because the first Second Sea enemies can be slower to farm right at Level 700.
Find the Military Detective at Prison
Once you're Level 700, head to Prison in the First Sea.
Look for the Military Detective near the prison area and talk to him.
He will give you a Special Key and send you toward Frozen Village to deal with the Ice Admiral. This key is what you need to open the locked door inside the Frozen Village cave.
Don't go looking for the Experienced Captain yet. You need to complete this part of the progression first.
Go to Frozen Village
From Prison, travel to Frozen Village.
Once you're on the island, look for the cave where the Ability Teacher is located. The door you're looking for isn't outside the island—it is inside this cave.
Go into the cave and look for the wooden door.
This is one of the easiest parts of the quest to miss because you can walk around Frozen Village without immediately seeing the entrance. Current guides specifically identify the wooden door inside the Ability Teacher cave as the next step.
Use the Key and Defeat Ice Admiral
Equip the Special Key you received from the Military Detective and use it on the wooden door.
Behind it, you'll find Ice Admiral.
Defeat him to complete the main combat part of the Second Sea progression.
You don't need to search for another boss after Ice Admiral. Once he's defeated, the next part of the route takes you back toward Prison and then Middle Town.
Return to the Military Detective
After defeating Ice Admiral, go back to Prison and speak with the Military Detective again.
This finishes the dialogue/progression and points you toward the final NPC.
There is a small detail worth knowing here: some current community guides indicate that returning to the Military Detective isn't strictly necessary for the Experienced Captain to become usable once the main requirement has been completed. However, returning to him is the safest route if you're following the quest normally, especially if you're unsure whether the game has registered your progress.
Find the Experienced Captain in Middle Town
Now travel to Middle Town.
Look for the Experienced Captain near the docks.
Talk to him and choose the option to travel to the Second Sea. Once the requirements have been completed, he'll teleport you there. The Captain's Second Sea access requires Level 700+ and completion of the Military Detective progression.
And that's it.
You'll arrive in the Second Sea, where you'll start a new set of islands, enemies, quests, bosses, and progression systems.
Can't Get to the Second Sea? Check These First
If the Experienced Captain isn't sending you anywhere, don't immediately assume the game is broken.
Check these things:
You're below Level 700.
The Second Sea progression doesn't activate until you reach the required level.
You haven't talked to the Military Detective.
Go back to Prison and make sure you started the progression and received the key.
You missed the wooden door.
At Frozen Village, enter the Ability Teacher's cave. The door is inside the cave, not somewhere outside on the island.
Ice Admiral is still alive.
You need to defeat him before moving on to the final part.
You're talking to the wrong Captain.
The NPC you need is the Experienced Captain in Middle Town. If the requirements aren't complete, he will simply dismiss you instead of offering the trip.
You're currently in combat.
The Experienced Captain cannot teleport you while you're in combat, so wait until the combat status disappears and try again.
Should You Go to Second Sea Immediately at Level 700?
You can, but you don't necessarily have to.
Level 700 unlocks the route, but some players may find the early Second Sea enemies inefficient at exactly Level 700. Current leveling guides suggest that staying in First Sea until roughly Level 775–800 can make the transition smoother, depending on your build and grinding setup.
If you're eager to unlock Second Sea features, go as soon as you hit 700. If your only goal is fast leveling, spending a little more time in First Sea can be worth considering.
What Should You Do After Reaching Second Sea?
Don't just arrive and immediately start wandering around.
Second Sea introduces a much larger progression path, so your next priorities will usually include:
- Finding efficient grinding spots
- Improving your fighting build
- Getting better equipment and accessories
- Unlocking raids and collecting Fragments
- Preparing for the much longer journey toward Third Sea
If you're using a fruit mainly for grinding, this is also the point where your choice of build can make a much bigger difference to how quickly you level.
