If you're new to Mini War, it's easy to assume that unlocking every troop is the best way to get stronger. I made the same mistake during my first few days—spending resources on every new building and upgrading ground units as soon as they became available.
The problem is that this slows your progress dramatically. Many experienced players follow a much simpler strategy: skip most ground units and rush your Air Force instead. It may sound extreme at first, but once you understand how the economy works, the strategy makes a lot of sense.
This guide explains why experienced players prioritize helicopters and aircraft, what buildings you should unlock first, and how to avoid wasting valuable resources.
Stop Unlocking Every Unit
One of the biggest traps for beginners is trying to build everything.
Every new Barracks or Tower feels like progress, but in reality you're spending builders, resources, and upgrade time on units that you'll eventually stop using.
Instead of unlocking every military building, focus only on the structures that move you toward stronger air units.
The fewer unnecessary upgrades you make, the faster you'll reach the late game.
The Fastest Progression Path
Rather than slowly upgrading every building, many veteran players recommend following a direct progression route.
Border Tower

Helipad

Air Base

Air Fortress
This approach skips much of the early ground progression and gets you into aircraft much earlier than other players.
The sooner you reach the Air Base, the sooner you unlock the Blackhawk, one of the biggest power spikes in the game.
Why Air Units Are So Powerful
At first glance, ground troops seem cheaper and easier to unlock.
However, Mini War isn't just about winning battles.
It's also about controlling resources.
Many of the game's most valuable Oil Rigs are located far from normal land routes. Ground vehicles simply can't reach them, while helicopters and other aircraft can capture them with ease.
That means air units don't just fight better—they also earn more resources over time.
The earlier you control Oil Rigs, the faster your entire base develops.
Builders Are Your Most Valuable Resource
Most new players worry about Coins.
Experienced players worry about Builders.
You only have a limited number of Builders available, and every unnecessary upgrade delays something more important.
Imagine spending hours upgrading ground Barracks that you'll never use later.
Those same Builders could have been working on Farms, Factories, or your Air Base instead.
As your buildings become higher level, upgrade timers become much longer. Some late-game projects can even take several days to complete.
Because of this, every Builder should always be working on upgrades that improve your long-term progression.
What Buildings Should You Prioritize?
Instead of spreading resources across every military structure, focus on buildings that improve your economy first.
A strong upgrade order looks something like this:
- Farms for a steady income
- Factories for production
- Houses to support growth
- Helipad
- Air Base
- Air Fortress
These upgrades give much better long-term value than repeatedly improving early-game Barracks.
The Blackhawk Changes Everything
Reaching the Air Base is one of the biggest milestones in Mini War.
Once you unlock the Blackhawk, expanding across the map becomes much easier.
You can reach distant objectives faster, capture valuable Oil Rigs, and attack targets that ground armies struggle to access.
For many players, this is the point where progression starts accelerating.
Is Air Fortress Worth the Long Upgrade?
Absolutely.
Although the Air Fortress takes an extremely long time to build, it's widely considered one of the strongest investments in the entire game.
The construction timer can feel intimidating, but once it's completed you'll have access to one of Mini War's most powerful air units.
Many endgame players build their entire strategy around reaching this milestone as early as possible.
Best Late-Game Army
If your goal is maximum efficiency instead of collecting every unit, many experienced players recommend a simple late-game setup.
Air Fortress
Your primary source of power during late-game battles.
Spidermax
A powerful support unit that works exceptionally well alongside air units.
Rather than maintaining dozens of different troop types, this smaller army is easier to manage while remaining highly effective.
Common Beginner Mistakes
Here are several mistakes that slow progression more than almost anything else.
- Unlocking every troop.
- Upgrading every Barracks.
- Spending Builders on outdated military buildings.
- Ignoring Oil Rigs.
- Delaying the Air Base.
- Building too many ground units.
Avoiding these mistakes can save days of progression over the course of your account.
Should You Ignore Ground Units Completely?
Not entirely.
Ground troops are still useful during the early game while you're working toward your first helicopters.
The key idea isn't that ground units are bad.
It's that you shouldn't continue investing heavily in them once aircraft become available.
Think of them as temporary tools rather than your final army.
If there's one strategy that consistently separates fast-growing players from everyone else, it's focusing on air progression instead of ground progression.
By skipping unnecessary military upgrades, saving your Builders for important projects, and rushing toward the Helipad, Air Base, and eventually the Air Fortress, you'll unlock stronger units sooner and gain access to valuable Oil Rigs that many players can't reach.
You don't need every troop in Mini War. You just need the ones that move your account forward the fastest.
